Did you have a great weekend? The weather in North Carolina is hot and steamy with lots of thundershowers in the afternoon. But then, it is summer time, and that's what summer in the South is all about! Our design team has been busy making great projects featuring the Summer Printable Download that Sandy is offering for free with each purchase from our online store. I just love that cute vintage camper, don't you? I found a whole thread on Pinterest where people are buying these and fixing them up and making them into the greatest design studios! I want one!

Sheila Rumney has a new tutorial showing you how to combine our Radiant Papers with Angel Blessings Digital Art Stamps. The colors in this digital layout are so pretty!

I promised you an exciting announcement and I'm just thrilled to announce that we have 4 new members joining us on the design team! Yippee! Beginning with the August Linky Party, our existing design team will be expanded to include these fresh faces!

July Linky Party and DT Challenge

Welcome to the Crafty Secrets July Linky Party and Design Team Challenge!

This is Kathy Clement filling in for Sandy Redburn, who is enjoying a very busy summer. I'll be posting here for the next several weeks as Sandy works on her daughter's wedding plans, getting her house ready for sale and working on new releases for Crafty Secrets.

Before we get started, I have a little news to share with you. Our wonderful design team members Cherry Nelson and Vicki Chrisman have stepped down from the design team. Cherry has a very full plate in her life right now, and is taking care of the home front. Vicki is enjoying exciting adventures while living "life outside the studio." We will miss the work from these two very talented designers. In particular, we will miss Vicki's wonderful contributions having been here from the beginning since 2007! Vicki will continue her personal BLOG and she may join us from time to time. But keep your eyes open here for fresh new faces....good things are coming your way!

We also have a special treat for you this month as we are being joined by a wonderful guest designer. My good friend and mentor, Gloria Stengel has decided to play along in the July Linky Party and I couldn't be more excited! Here's a little introduction to this wonderful artist and friend.

My name is Gloria Stengel and I have been hooked on paper crafts all of my life. I have always loved to color, play with paper dolls, and create "projects"! In 1990, I discovered rubber stamping and in 1996, I stumbled across "modern" scrapbooking. I love all aspects of paper crafting: card making, scrapbooking, mini albums, altered art, up-cycling, you name it! I am happiest when I am making a mess! It's the cleaning up part that I don't care for!

I have been on a number of design teams over the past few years, including three terms with Graphic 45. I also accept various guest design spots and work with online stores from time to time. I have recently started my own challenge blog, Craft Hoarders Anonymous. I think the name says it all.

The theme for this month's Linky Party is summer fun, and the design team has created some great samples and helpful tutorials to get your creative juices flowing.

Catching Up With Crafty Secrets, Free Summer Printable and .95 Cent Summer Cotton Scraps!

Hi Everyone, are you enjoying Summer and hopefully great sunny weather? I have been MIA for ages and have a big catch up for you with some fantastic samples as well as a new Free Printable Gift with any order this month! As soon as I saw this pretty dragonfly card that DT leader Kathy Clement created I decided to use our Summer Printbale Sheet this months free download gift when anyone places an order in our www.craftyvintagegirl.com store.

Our Free Summer Printable Download is also available as our Summer Homespun Cotton Scraps and I've put them on sale for .95 cents this month as well.

Here is a fun typewriter card Kathy created with a bunch of photos and details using our Office 101 Digital Set and all the ephemera tickets she used are from a sheet on CD 3. The background paper is from our Radiant Digital Collection but you could use any paper to suit your colors.

I love this altered Seaside Jar by Vicki Chrisman she created to hold a collection of shells and sea glass and tell a story using a vintage photo for her Whatevers Challenge. The bathing beauty she used on the inside of her jar is from our Digital Bathing Beauties Collection.

DT Member Michele Kovack made this cute Dog Treat Box using a Silhouette box template with our Big Dog Digital Stamps and you can get the details on her Blog plus see some cute photos of her daughter's modeling job.

I also love this jar and lettering stamp Michele used to create this Good Dog Treat Jar Card using our Big Dog Digital Stamp Set with Prisma Pencils.

DT Member Darlene Pavlick created this great guy card using our Car Classics Digital set and combined it with a great 'roads you may take' friendship sentiment included in our Puppies Card Download.

If you are new to using digital designs you should check out this 'How To Tutorial by Sheila Rumney on Creating a Color Label.

Sheila used our Message in a Bottle Digital Stamp Set and shows how to change the color of a black stamp and combine different images.

Our Home Sweet Home Stamp Set was always a favorite of mine and now that the Clear Set has sold out and it's a digital download I think I like it better because the houses are so much bigger and easier to color now! Look at this fun card by DT Member Elizabeth Lincoln she created using the set along with the heart and key from our Heart to Heart Set.

Elizabeth also also made this cool beach card using our Seaside Stamp Set now a Digital Download. I love the way she added the twine and did the shells 3D.

I've been so busy I'm going to have our DT Leader Kathy Clement help with the Blog and she is going to do a post each week

I've been busy working on some New Designs as well as helping our oldest daughter Katie move, our youngest Chelsea plan a beautiful wedding on a budget - plus Scott wants to move so we've been house hunting. I also had a chance to take a mini vacation with my friend Mariana in Palm Springs for her birthday. We've been friends for over 35 years and although so many things have changed in our lives I know we will be friends forever.

2 Winners, Cat Party, Doggies and Car Classics Card

Hi Everyone,

I have the winners for our Linky Party and Blog Giveaway, plus some fun new samples to share. We had some really great entries for the Linky Party (thanks ladies) and they all won a $6.00 gift card and # 5 Christy was the lucky random.org $50.00 winner and then #29 Andrea was the Giveaway winner of our new Dog Stamps and Printable Puppy Cards.

DT Member Kathy Clement Posted this hilarious Cat card for her granddaughter Sophie who just turned 5 and received a kitty for her birthday. All of the crazy cats are from our Party Cats Digital Set (with 32 stamps) and the birthday sentiment is from Cutie Cats.

DT Member Vicki Chrisman was sick and missed our Linky Party but is feeling better and has been a busy lady. She has a great post for Pet Appreciation Week on what she loves most about her dogs Molly and Daisy and info on Dogvacay.com who provide dog sitting. I love this photo she scrapped of Molly using designs from our Little Dog Set.

Vicki also made a couple of adorable puppy cards using our Printable Puppies Set. The blue damask paper is from CD #1.

You can see a set of pretty photo cards Vicki created using frames and words from CD 3 Creating With Vintage Typography. I love the impact of the bright pink she added and sentiment and you can see 3 more samples on her blog.

DT Member Elizabeth Lincoln made this cool Dad's Day card using our Car Classics Set (now Digital) and explains how and what she used on her Blog. I love the background tire paper!

Here's a photo from our annual mother and daughter road trip. This year we drove to Seattle and my dear friend Mariana joined us. The girls have known her since they were babies and still call her Auntie. Our youngest Chelsea on the left is getting married this Sept to her sweetheart Anthony so it's been exciting helping them make plans. I just can't believe how fast they have all grown into wonderful women. I guess it's true - time flies when your having fun!

This is a layout I made of my dad who passed away in January. I called him Daddy-O, which he seemed to get a kick out if. This will be our first Fathers Day with out him and we all miss him immensely as my he lived downstairs with my mom for over 25 years. I used paper, designs and a font to journal all from CD 3 Creating With Vintage Typography.

This is the alphabet page I cropped all the letters from for the title.

I also added a drop shadow to each of my letters which is easy to do if you go under the Layers Style Tab and then Style Settings. When you hover your mouse over a letter you add you can click 'Send it Backwards' to layer them and tuck parts of a letter behind another. I also tucked most of an envelope I used under the photo to add the name and dates.

I added the leaves, so in total I used the background paper, blue paper to mat, alphabet paper, journal card, one of the fonts, a swirly designs and a envelope to add my dad's name.

I also like using the warp text tool to curve text like the 'Dear Daddy-O' in the top of the journal box or the way the text is waved like a flag and you can control the levels from just a little bit to crazy.

Our Golf Time Clear Stamp Set has sold out and become a Golf Time Digital Download and we made some changes and improved it. There is a new crown and heart design added and the images are much larger but re-sizeable. It's a medium set and should be $4.95 but it's on sale until Father's Day for an introductory SALE price of $2.95!
