Hi Everyone ,
I have some fun ideas to share today! We are also leaving this morning to set up at the Heirloom Stamp Show in Puyallup WA, so if you are in the area - we would love to see you!
I
came across this Ikea lampshade that I had and decided to try a couple
of quick ideas to show you how easy it is to alter a lampshade or you
could create a photo candle wrap using a design you like. I love this
rose paper from our Pattern CD #1 and also made a reduced copy of a
layout Cindy made using files from our new Typography CD # 3.
I looked on the Ikea website but I couldn't find the exact shade I used but they have a few blank shades like the one below and I've seem several lampshades in second hand stores that would work. You just need a flat surface to attach to. You can even wrap a design around a glass and add a candle or battery tea light.
I thought it would be fun to shrink a layout and create a wall lamp for a child's room. I just wish Ikea had the same shades so I could make photo lamps for my niece and nephew. I know they would love the little push button switch on the cord. If anyone finds a good source please let me know. Cindy (our graphic designer) made this adorable layout using papers and ephemera from CD #3. You can pre-order it now and it will ship May 25.
It was so easy! The layout was reduced to 9.5" and photocopied on plain copy paper and wrapped around the shade. You could attach it with a bit of double sided sticky tape but I just used a couple of pieces of scotch tape so I could change it up easily. I wished after that I had copied it onto light weight cardstock as the paper is so thin some of the detail faded back with the light on.
Next I shrunk down this pretty rose floral paper from CD #1 and wrapped it around.
Same deal - I wish I had copied it on white cardstock as the paper was a bit too thin
How about this cool tea light shade that DT member Michele Kovack stamped a few years ago using our Wildflowers Set. Michele used some of the diecut pieces from a couple of Vicki's 3D Shadow Box Die to make the frame and stamped on vellum for the 'windows'. It looks like stained glass when lit up
CD 3 has 10 different Templates and there is one lampshade template you can print on 8.5 x 11" white cardstock to create a lampshade like this sample printed on 1 of the papers. You could use a blade & ruler to cut windows and it would be cute to punch little stars in a baby shade. We tested this shade and it also fits on a large wine glass. Add a candle tea light or battery operated one and you could have fabulous centerpieces for a wedding table or romantic dinner.
I showed this shade Vicki made before but in case you missed it, she punched circles from some of the ad paper that will be on CD 3 and glued them to a plain shade to make this cool altered lamp.
I can't remember where I saw this umbrella shade idea but I love it!
I have a couple of other lampshade ideas in my head, so this isn't the end yet.
Marilyn McIldoon has been busy altering Bingo cards in different color schemes and I adore this green one and how she used our Let's Hang Out Stamp Set with the iron and apron!
Look at this very pretty card that Jan Hennings created using papers and images from CD #3. Thanks Jan!
Lastly, I want to tell you about a new fab Cupcake Stand Die that Vicki designed for Accucut and they just released it. Expect to see all sorts of wonderful ideas that I know Vic will create!
Okay, if you are anywhere near Puyallup, WA drop by the Heirloom Stamp Show at the Fairgrounds and ask me for a free gift with any purchase! The show runs Sat 10 - 5 and Sun 11 - 4 PM. My hubby Scott's fave band is playing in Seattle so I thought we may as well do the show as we will be so close by.
Wishing you joy & creativity
