Stacia from Red Barn Jewelery who had the lease is about to have her baby any day and found out she couldn't extend her lease. Lyssa was also selling Stacia's beautiful jewelry. Too bad - but I'm Canadian and can't sign a 1 year lease so had to let it go.

I'm so sad the store had to close. Many of the items have been moved to the Picket Fence, a consignment store on Front Street in Lynden, WA.  Lyssa will still be filling our USA online orders.

Our Etsy Store is open but I've changed my Copyright to allow people to create handmade products to sell and I need to update all the digital products with the new copyright and upload them all again. Here's the NEW Copyright information in case anyone is interested in selling handmade products using any of our Digital images.

Clipper Street is a popular scrapbook store here in Langley BC and they hold a Garage Sale each month with is a big hit with their customers buying and selling items. I've rented 2 parking stalls and will have a huge amount of craft supplies there this Sunday July 12, 10 till 2 pm. Extra items that are easy to ship will be listed in our Etsy Store.

If you want quality resealable clear bags you can hang I have a great deal on packages of 100 bags for $2.95  in our Etsy Store.

I also have other items for sale that are too large to ship but showing in case someone lives near Bellingham, WA or the Vancouver-Surrey area in BC Canada. One of the larger pieces is this antique oak buffet sideboard for $350.00.The hand carving detail is beautiful and the fancy piece over the drawers is a hidden drawer

Christmas 2014 Free Printable, My Cards Tutorial, Dec Linky Winner and More!

Hi Everyone,  I have some fabulous things to share today like our Free Christmas Printable for 2014, my Christmas Cards Tutorial, the Dec Linky Party Winner and other samples!  Congratulations to Gail Scott who was lucky #5 and won our Crafty Secrets December Linky Party!

For several years we've posted free printable images with each season as a thank you gift for our supporters and I thought these adorable kids would be a hit this year. You can see past printables here. Left click the image until it becomes as large as possible and then right click to save it to a picture file.  Please Note our vintage images under go several changes, are copyrighted by us and are no longer in public domain. For personal use only please.

Gail won a $40.00 Gift Certificate plus free shipping and everyone else will receive their choice of 1 of these 3 Digital Stamp Sets - Bedtime Kids,   Deer Christmas  or  Christmas Tree.  Thanks to everyone who entered, there were some great samples!

I stopped designing to get crafty and make a couple of Christmas cards and a hanging postcard using our new digital Christmas Sets. My Tutorial shows 2 easy ways to change black digital PNG stamps to any color using Photoshop Elements or the free Paint programs. Once printed, I treated them just like regular stamped images, adding paper, embellishments and a little chalk to color the truck and mouse cards.
Note: On my previous post I showed how to invert a black PNG stamp and make it snowy white and I also used the Gradient Tool to add color but I think this method is a faster way to change color.

I will show you how to add color using Photoshop Elements first, then how to using Paint or Paint.net. I have PSE 10 - (Photoshop Elements 10) but this method works with any PSE version. You can find the 2014 PSE version #13 for $59.00 on amazon.com and Costco has it, or I also saw a new version #11 for $44.99 with free shipping on amazon. If you want a free program, the 'Paint' program is pre-installed on many PC's or you can download Paint.net from www.getpaint.net and it's is excellent for the zero price tag!  Mac and PC users can also download Gimp.

Step 1 - Using Photoshop Elements  open the PNG Black stamp (jpgs won't work) and click on the Edit Tab on the top, then 'Fill Layer'. A box will pop up and you just check the 'Preserve Transparency' Box and click on the 'Color' button and a a box will open with a slide you can adjust to pick a color. Simply move your mouse over the color area to change the hue. Once you say okay, your stamp will become whichever color you picked.  I used the truck and tree stamp from the Christmas Tree Digital Set.

Step 2 Optional - You can add other colors digitally using the lasso tool - but I'm a dummy and forgot how, so I cheated and just used the Paint Bucket Tool to color the tree, ornaments, red lettering and tiny green designs. Just click on colors in the palette and really zoom in to click right on any tiny lines or areas to change the color. If you miss and click outside the line or where it's all joined it will fill in too much color but just go under the Edit tab and click 'Un-do Paint Bucket' to step back.

It's a bit tedious but I love that I never wreck a project (like past blotched ink stamping I'm guilty of). I can always click undo and when I'm happy I can print multiple copies and just add a bit of color, paper piecing an embellishments!

Step 3  Save your color image with a new name and print it on your fave medium. I printed on white card stock and a buff color for the postcard.  You can easily change all the digital stamps in a set to various colors and save the original black set. They cost less than buying regular stamps and you don't need so many color ink pads!

Tip: If you have an inkjet printer and and want to use Copics or other pens to add more color and are worried about the ink running you can use a heat tool or hair dryer to make sure your printed image is bone dry before coloring it.

After printing the truck, I used chalks with a Dove Blender Pen to color part of the truck, tires and  windows. I also added Glossy Accents to the windows, Faux Snow, Copper and Green Stickles, ribbon and a tiny piece off a green garland to my bow. Red Polka Dot Paper is from our Radiant Papers and Brown Paisley is from Earthy Papers.

This 'deer mouse' was fun to do and is from our Deer Christmas Digital Stamp Set. I changed her to brown and used the Paint Bucket Tool to change Happy Holidays to red. I printed her on white card stock and colored her and the background with chalks using a Dove Blender Pen for small areas and a make up sponge on the background. Added Copper and Green Stickles, piece of a white lace doilie, scrap of embossed red paper. Pattern paper is from our Radiant Collection. Red ribbon, twigs, piece of green garland.

Step 1 Using Paint or Paint.net to change Black to Color can be done by using the Paint Bucket in Photoshop Elements, the Paint Program or other similar editing programs.  I have a previous tutorial here showing how  as well as coloring words in different shades - so I decided to show a sample with a mix of colors and shades for fun instead of the plain red lettering.

This is the postcard I made using the design from our Deer Christmas Digital Stamp Set and it was  easy as the design is pre-done. I just changed the the postcard from black to brown and used the bucket tool to make a few parts red. I also cropped the Happy Holidays lettering from a sign, changed it to red and pasted it on the postcard. I printed the card on buff card stock,  cropped the little deer stamp and printed it on white card stock to add with pop dots.

You can see below that distressed or broken lines take a bit longer to color as you have to click on each separate piece. I embellished with Copper and Green Stickles, Faux Snow, distressed and inked the edges and added 2 eyelet stickers from our Hardware Sticker Sheet over the punched holes and gold elastic to hang it. It could hang over a bottle of wine, on a gift, a tree or wreath.
TIP: I used my lemon zester to distress the edges!

Now I have some cool DT samples like this Christmas Silhouette card by DT Member Darlene Pavlick using our Deer Christmas Digital Stamp Set. It looks so striking in black with the red contrast. You can see details on Darlene's Blog.

DT Member Melody Clement created this wonderful Christmas Toast card using our Vintage Santa Stamp Set and paper and images from CD 6  Creating With Vintage Christmas.

Look at this cute purse style gift bag by DT Member Diane Hoover using printable rose paper from our Radiant Paper Pad. Diane has more photos and details on her Blog. I also love the side view.

Lastly after all that talk about our Deer Christmas and Santa Stamps I have to share a photo of a little Christmas Deer and Santa Devil Dog who stayed with us Saturday night. Otis use to be our family dog but our youngest daughter Chelsea and her husband Anthony kidnapped him. He's almost 15 years old, blind and diabetic but he's still going strong thanks to their care. Now the devil dog Fred belongs to our middle daughter Holly and he howls so much when she leaves he has to wear a citronella collar. They both stayed over Sat night so it was dress up time Sunday morning!

Wishing you joy and creativity

Catching Up With Crafty Secrets, Free Summer Printable and .95 Cent Summer Cotton Scraps!

Hi Everyone,  are you enjoying Summer and hopefully great sunny weather?  I have been MIA for ages and have a big catch up for you with some fantastic samples as well as a new Free Printable Gift with any order this month!  As soon as I saw this pretty dragonfly card that DT leader Kathy Clement created I decided to use our Summer Printbale Sheet this months free download gift when anyone places an order in our www.craftyvintagegirl.com store.

Our Free Summer Printable Download is also available as our Summer Homespun Cotton Scraps and I've put them on sale for .95 cents this month as well.

Here is a  fun typewriter card Kathy created with a bunch of photos and details using our Office 101 Digital Set and all the ephemera tickets she used are from a sheet on CD 3.  The background paper is from our Radiant Digital Collection but you could use any paper to suit your colors.

I love this altered Seaside Jar by Vicki Chrisman she created to hold a collection of shells and sea glass and tell a story using a vintage photo for her Whatevers Challenge.  The bathing beauty she used on the inside of her jar is from our Digital Bathing Beauties Collection.

DT Member Michele Kovack made this cute Dog Treat Box using a Silhouette box template with our Big Dog Digital Stamps and you can get the details on her Blog plus see some cute photos of her daughter's modeling job.

I also love this jar and lettering stamp Michele used to create this Good Dog Treat Jar Card using our Big Dog Digital Stamp Set  with Prisma Pencils.

DT Member Darlene Pavlick created this great guy card using our Car Classics Digital set and combined it with a great 'roads you may take' friendship sentiment included in our Puppies Card Download.

If you are new to using digital designs you should check out this 'How To Tutorial by Sheila Rumney on Creating a Color Label.

Sheila used our Message in a Bottle Digital Stamp Set  and shows how to change the color of a black stamp and combine different images.

Our Home Sweet Home Stamp Set was always a favorite of mine and now that the Clear Set has sold out and it's a digital download I think I like it better because the houses are so much bigger and easier to color now! Look at this fun card by DT Member Elizabeth Lincoln she created using the set along with the heart and key from our Heart to Heart Set.

Elizabeth also also made this cool beach card using our Seaside Stamp Set now a Digital Download. I love the way she added the twine and did the shells 3D.

I've been so busy I'm going to have our DT Leader Kathy Clement help with the Blog and she is going to do a post each week

I've been busy working on some New Designs as well as helping our oldest daughter Katie move, our youngest Chelsea plan a beautiful wedding on a budget - plus Scott wants to move so we've been house hunting. I also had a chance to take a mini vacation with my friend Mariana in Palm Springs for her birthday. We've been friends for over 35 years and although so many things have changed in our lives I know we will be friends forever.

I want to remind everyone that our next LinkyParty is coming up (first Mon each month) this Monday July 7, 2014 and we will have a Design Team Guest Gloria Stengel from Craft Hoarders Anonymous! She is super talented and we are proud to be a sponsor this Sept for her Design Team and Giveaway!

Wishing you joy and creativity

Free Memorial Card, Fab Colored Cards, Gift Box, Garden Cards and Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

I have some fabulous samples to share today and I also re-posting this great Free Printable we had for July 4th back in 2012 after I realized it would also work great for a Memorial Day card. Left click on it with your mouse until it gets as large as possible and right click it to save to a picture file.
We had our long weekend last weekend and I also went on my annual Mother-Daughter Road Trip with my 3 daughters. This year they voted for Seattle and we had a fantastic time.

DT Member Elizabeth Lincoln is also Canadian and used our Big Dog Digital Set to pay tribute to her mother who was enlisted in the British Army during World War 2 with this fantastic Bulldog card she created.  You can see the detail in the coloring is amazing and look how she added a little flag.

I also love this hound dog birthday card by Elizabeth, she also created using our Big Dog Digital Stamp set and how she used the party hat stamp on the set but made the hat 3D.

Graphic designer Cindy van Koll came by for a visit yesterday with her new little puppy her husband bought her. They named him Beau and look how freaking adorable he is!! I used the 'Best Little Dog' and 'Kisses' postmark stamps from our Little Dog Digital Stamp Set to make them this jumbo sized magnet card for their fridge.  It's 7 x 11" so I probably need to shrink it!

I used the Paint Bucket tool in Photoshop Elements to digitally color the stamp blue and green. All of the pieces you want to color need to be closed or the 'paint will leak out'. If you look at the red arrow below you will see an opening. I made the pencil tool 2 pixels wide and drew a line to close the opening a few others and then dropped in the colors.

Check out this amazing Bird Gift Box by DT Leader Kathy Clement, she created using our Bird and Blossom Creative Digital Scraps - yep - the regular ones sold out so they are a 4 page download now and much more versatile.

DT Member Vicki Chrisman used her sewing machine to stitch this pretty seed pack card using an image and paper from CD 2 Creating with Vintage Illustrations.  You can also see some wonderful wedding photos she took of her niece Neely's wedding.

Look at this beautiful pastel duck card by DT Member Michele Kovack she created with our Animal Party Clear Stamps on sale for $12.50 and colored using Copic markers and the faux rain drops she added.

Here's a pretty garden birthday card by DT Member Darlene Pavlick, that she created using images and paper from our Garden Download Set.

I missed this Digital Photo Tag Tutorial by DT Member Sheila Rumney last Friday and now she has a new Photoshop Friday Tutorial on creating a decorative checkbook cover. You can also check out our  Tutorial Folder on Pintrest.

We have NEW adorable Puppy Printable Greeting Cards coming this Monday!

I hope you have a super fabulous weekend!
