Crafty Secrets Welcomes Diane Hover to the Design Team

Hello, Friends!

Welcome to our new Design Team Spotlight Week!   We have 4 fresh faces on the Crafty Secrets Design Team and we are so excited to introduce you to them.  Today's spotlight is on the lovely Diane Hover.  Her shabby chic/vintage style will be right at home here on the Crafty Secrets team.  Let's meet Diane!

I have 2 grown sons and 1 daughter and 2 step-sons...all which live in the area.  I have 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren...and yes, I am way too young for all that!  LOL  I love them all!  We live in a log home on a creek in the country, and besides paper crafting (which is my passion) I also love gardening and sewing!!  I like to tell people that when I was born and the doctor inked my footprint, I was destined to get inky and crafty!
My blog was named after my dog "Nellie"...Nellie is the most wonderful dog-child ever!!  She is a Goldendoodle and ever so smart...I just can't even think about life without her!

My hubby and I have lived in our log cabin for about 19 years...it sits by a woods along a creek...we have named our place here "Cabin On The Creek"...its old...its cold in the winter, buggy in the summer, but we love it.  I have major flower gardens that I work in daily "in season".  I have many interests...so many, that its a bit overwhelming at times....I love to papercraft~sew~garage sale~go to auctions~and refurbish old items!

You might see me "write" about our lake home...we have a newer home (oh how I love new homes) on Lake Huron...about 30 miles SE of the Mackinac Bridge...we go there whenever we can...we call that house "Summer Wind", since my hubby is a big fan of Frank Sinatra.....it sets very close to the lake, love the sound of the waves....we kayak in the summer months...kind of scarey on that big lake, but we are careful!

Visiting Diane's blog, Nellie's Nest, is a real treat!  This crafty gal makes the most beautiful paper flowers and dimensional cards.  I was so impressed with the many different ways that Diane uses paper in her artwork.  It seems she can do anything from clean and simple cards to ornate shabby chic.  She stitches, layers, colors, die cuts and creates dimensional art.  Diane is a wonderful artist with a great sense of humor and a warm personality.  Her blog  also features photos from her beautiful home in the countryside. We are so happy to have you on the Crafty Secrets Design team.

Look at this beautiful box Diane created for her Crafty Secrets debut:

This darling altered box features papers and images from our Digital Garden Papers.  I just love the delicate flowers and butterfly embellishments.

I know you will want to join me in welcoming Diane to the Crafty Secrets team in your comments below.  We can't wait to get to know her even better!

I'll see you tomorrow with another new designer spotlight.  Until then, I wish you joy and creativity!

Kathy

Free Memorial Card, Fab Colored Cards, Gift Box, Garden Cards and Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

I have some fabulous samples to share today and I also re-posting this great Free Printable we had for July 4th back in 2012 after I realized it would also work great for a Memorial Day card. Left click on it with your mouse until it gets as large as possible and right click it to save to a picture file.
We had our long weekend last weekend and I also went on my annual Mother-Daughter Road Trip with my 3 daughters. This year they voted for Seattle and we had a fantastic time.

DT Member Elizabeth Lincoln is also Canadian and used our Big Dog Digital Set to pay tribute to her mother who was enlisted in the British Army during World War 2 with this fantastic Bulldog card she created.  You can see the detail in the coloring is amazing and look how she added a little flag.

I also love this hound dog birthday card by Elizabeth, she also created using our Big Dog Digital Stamp set and how she used the party hat stamp on the set but made the hat 3D.

Graphic designer Cindy van Koll came by for a visit yesterday with her new little puppy her husband bought her. They named him Beau and look how freaking adorable he is!! I used the 'Best Little Dog' and 'Kisses' postmark stamps from our Little Dog Digital Stamp Set to make them this jumbo sized magnet card for their fridge.  It's 7 x 11" so I probably need to shrink it!

I used the Paint Bucket tool in Photoshop Elements to digitally color the stamp blue and green. All of the pieces you want to color need to be closed or the 'paint will leak out'. If you look at the red arrow below you will see an opening. I made the pencil tool 2 pixels wide and drew a line to close the opening a few others and then dropped in the colors.

Check out this amazing Bird Gift Box by DT Leader Kathy Clement, she created using our Bird and Blossom Creative Digital Scraps - yep - the regular ones sold out so they are a 4 page download now and much more versatile.

DT Member Vicki Chrisman used her sewing machine to stitch this pretty seed pack card using an image and paper from CD 2 Creating with Vintage Illustrations.  You can also see some wonderful wedding photos she took of her niece Neely's wedding.

Look at this beautiful pastel duck card by DT Member Michele Kovack she created with our Animal Party Clear Stamps on sale for $12.50 and colored using Copic markers and the faux rain drops she added.

Here's a pretty garden birthday card by DT Member Darlene Pavlick, that she created using images and paper from our Garden Download Set.

I missed this Digital Photo Tag Tutorial by DT Member Sheila Rumney last Friday and now she has a new Photoshop Friday Tutorial on creating a decorative checkbook cover. You can also check out our  Tutorial Folder on Pintrest.

We have NEW adorable Puppy Printable Greeting Cards coming this Monday!

I hope you have a super fabulous weekend!

Welcome to Our April Linky Party, DT Challenge and 3D Shadow Box Frame Kits

Welcome to our April Linky Party and DT Challenge! Please check out the cool projects our Design Team Ladies have each created and we would love for you to join in our Linky Party and win a Gift Certificate!  See details at the end.

Vicki Chrisman

When I saw that Elizabeth Lincoln was using one of Vicki Chrisman's 3D Shadow Box Frames in this challenge with our printable Baby Girl Card 99 cent Download, I remembered we found some extra frames in a box of show stock and have added them to our CraftyVintageGirl.com Store.  Vicki designed these Frames as dies for AccuCut a few years ago and we helped and received a Die so are able to cut and sell them. You can also ask your local store if they have either die as they are popular.

I've always had the idea to make a cut on the inside base of one of the the frames so you could slide a figure along - like my niece who wants to be a ballerina. So many photos would be fun like a child skating or running, a couple kissing or dancing. I'm just mad that my video won't load here!  You will have to imagine Arissa dancing across the 'stage' with Otis.

DT Member Vicki Chrisman is the designer and she has a step by step Video showing how to put the frames together . There are 2 styles with a Landscape and also a Portrait Style Design shown below decorated with our Altered Fairy Scraps.

Here is another Portrait Style Vicki made with a photo of her mom as a young girl on the farm and embellished it with our Farm Scraps.

This Portrait style frame was decorated with stamps as well as our Bird and Blossom Scraps

Vicki made this wedding Landscape Style Frame using poem from our Card Sentiments (now digital) accents from French Mail, paper is now a 99 cent download Pair of Classic Damask Blues.
Here's a link in case you missed my Free Easter Images and Healthy-Fun Easter Treats and later I found this photo I missed adding and wanted to show you these cream cheese stuffed Tulips made with a bouquet of cherry tomatoes and green onion stems.

Okay,  now its your turn to enter our April Linky Party and post any sample you have created using any of our products.  Every person will receive a $6.00 coupon and 1 lucky random.org winner will get a $50.00 Crafty Secrets Gift Card!  You have until 12:05 PM April 17/14 to enter. Sorry, only one $6.00 coupon per person but you can enter up to 4 samples and increase odds of winning the big prize. Don't be shy!

Also, thanks so much for your support and feedback, it's truly appreciated!

See 2 New Print-n-Fold Baby Cards, Links, Beautiful Samples and My Miracle Grow Photos.

Hi Everyone, in honor of the little new prince we have 2 new adorable print and fold vintage style baby cards for .99 cents each,  plus some beautiful new samples by our Design Team, and Miracle Grow photos of my flowers and some cuties.

This Print-n-Fold style Baby Boy card is a digital download you can print over and over to create adorable baby boy cards with a sweet vintage style fit for a prince.  The image is 300 dpi/ppi high resolution jpg file which you can re-size, crop and edit (just be sure to save edits with a new name to keep your original file).  The finished printed card is just over 6.5" high and 4.5" wide when closed and 9" wide when open.  Ooops, don't look at my crooked 'door knobs' I did when I added 2 brass office brads.

Here are some directions but I probably made it look more complicated than it really was.

This is the cute Print-n-Fold style Baby Girl Card,  a 99 cent digital download you can print over and over to create adorable baby girl cards with a sweet vintage style. The image is 300 dpi/ppi high resolution jpg file which you can re-size, crop and edit (just be sure to save edits with a new name to keep your original file). The finished printed card is just over 6.5" high and 4.5" wide when closed and 9" wide when open.

Here's a photo I came across when searching under 'baby' of some old dolls for sale at the antique show we sold at a few weeks ago. There was a sea of dollies covering several tables.

Here's a pretty card by DT Member Melissa Bove who used the button card from our Button Up Digital Stamp Set with some of our printable papers, some seam binding a pretty rose and I love the stick pin!
Check out DT Member Darlene Pavlick's Sweet Blessings box set of cards she made for a friend with matching envelopes using the rose image from our Garden Printables , sentiment from Digital Flower Garden and some faux embossed 99 cent paper.

DT Member Kathy Clement has created another beautiful card in a garden theme with a matching envelope and the detail and layers she's added are wonderful and so worth seeing!

Kathy used the little girl from our Vegetable Garden Digital Stamp Set and she has a bunch of photos of the card including the matching envelopes she made and the beautiful inside with the sentiment 'Have a Bloomin' Great Day' from our Flower Garden Digital Stamps $9.95 Set.  I am so in love with this stamp set from the cool lettering to the jumbo size veggies!

I'm also in love with these 2 sweet kids, my niece and nephew, who my 80 year old mom looks after weekdays for my brother.  He's a single dad and doing an amazing job but I have to give my mom credit for teaching these kids all about gardening among 1000 other bits of wisdom she has passed on to them. They live downstairs so the kids were on my deck today when I took photos of my flowers that are growing so well - thanks to Miracle Grow and the kids who know all about 'dead heading old flowers' to get more new blooms.

We've had a Azalea topiary tree in our bathroom for about 5 years with no blooms but I started feeding it Miracle Grow after I saw the constant buds that keep coming on this one. I will let you know if it blooms. Scott bought me this one for $16.00 this year and I plan on bringing it indoors for the winter so it can do this all over again next summer!

I love this flower box outside my kitchen window as our kitchen table is right by the window

I love container gardening and always keep my eyes peeled for second hand pots at thrift stores and flea markets. Just toss some rocks in the bottom so you get good drainage.

Lastly, I will leave you with a photo our daughter Holly sent me of her puppy Fred which made me burst out laughing because it totally shows his naughty, funny personality. Not sure if this was taken after he snacked on about 6 pairs of her shoes but doesn't he look like a little trouble maker?

Don't forget our next Design Team Challenge and August Linky Party starts next Monday, August 5/13 and runs for a week.  You can submit any sample you have created with our products and you will receive a $6.00 CS Gift Card and be entered to win a $50.00 CS Gift Card (picked by random.org) you can use in our www.craftyvintagegirl.com store.

I've been adding more samples to our Pintrest Boards  if you want to get other ideas, access all our Free Printables and Tutorials!

I came back to add these Linky Parties I've joined in on
