Beat the Winter Blues Sale and Inspiration with Crafty Secrets!

Hello Friends!

Well, here we are, at the end of January...where did this month go?  I know for most of us, every winter month that gets crossed off the calendar is a good thing!  I hope all our friends in snowy climes are staying warm and healthy.  Although we haven't had any snow here in North Carolina, we have had days and days of rain and grey skies. And I am so ready for spring.  So, to brighten up a winter day, I thought I'd pop in and share some lovely samples from our design team in a post that I'm calling "January Round Up."  Also, I want to give you a heads up that Sandy has further slashed prices  in the www.craftyvintagegirl.com store on most of the printed inventory and Clear Stamp Sets and also found some discontinued sets while cleaning up the warehouse!

Let's see what the gals have been creating...

Former DT Member Vicki Chrisman has been using these cold, snowy days to hunker down in her craft studio.  She recently taught a class on using digital items to make lovely home decor pieces.  Our Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD is loaded with beautiful bird images, papers, florals and frames. If winter has you down in the dumps, make something beautiful for your home to add some cheer!

And speaking of home decor, look at this super cute banner Vic made using images from our Retro Kitchen Kit and Kitchen Queen Digital Stamp set.  This would look great hanging in my kitchen!  LOL

I just love the cute kitschy papers and images in these two kits...so fun and fresh and a great way to beat the winter blues!

Our January Linky Party focused on the darling images from the new Bedtime Kids Digital Art Stamps.  The team has made so many adorable projects using these sweet stamps.  Take a look at this fun retro baby card that Michele Kovack made with the little lamb images from the set.

Michele printed the little lamb off in two different sizes, creating great depth and dimension in this pretty, pretty card.  That's the wonderful thing about digital....it's just so versatile!

Sheila Rumney has also made some darling cards using these stamps.  Look at this adorable little boy card....this one always makes me think of that old song, "Me and My Shadow."  Do you remember it?  Sheila shares some great memories from her childhood in THIS sweet blog post.  You'll want to be sure to read it, as I know it will make you smile!

And, with the end of January....Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  The team has been whipping up some really cute Valentines. Take a look:

I love the touch of gold that Shantaie Caudill Fowler added to the cherub in this sweet card made with our Be My Valentine stamps.  Those layers are scrumptious, Shantaie, and the beautiful bow is absolute perfection!

I love it when our designers think outside the box...and Vic really knocked my socks off with this darling Valentine made with our Little Dogs Digital stamp set. This is such a great idea for your dog loving friends! She just printed the stamp onto some of our digital papers to create this lovely card.  So easy...but oh, so pretty!

Darlene Pavlick has been busy making Valentines, too!  She used our Love Mail Creative Scraps to whip up this bright and pretty Butterfly themed Valentine.  Creative Scraps are a wonderful option when you need to make a card fast!

Dar also made this lovely lattice Valentine  by combining Love Mail Creative Scraps with our Altered Fairy Creative Scraps.  Look at that cute kissing couple!

The cold winter days have us all longing for spring...and I'm hoping these lovely cards from the design team will help push Old Man Winter along and usher in some pretty spring days.  I know it won't work that way, but these cards are certainly a breath of springtime!

Melody Clement combined papers from our Vintage Valentine Kit with stamped images from our Bird Notes Digital set to create this stunning card.  Oh, the colors here just make my heart sing!

Elizabeth Lincoln is keeping her heart happy by playing with our Flower Garden Digital Stamps.  Look at the beautiful coloring done here!  The seed packet frame is a wonderfully versatile stamp.  You can use it small, as Liz did here, or you can make it larger and use it as a frame for a larger piece of home decor.

Diane Hover got busy with our Vintage Valentine Kit and our Love Mail Creative Scraps and created this gorgeous Pink Valentine. I just love the way she has the hearts and leaves coming up over the sentiment panel.  You can read all about how she made it HERE

And lastly, Diane Hover created this wonderful "Two Way Open" card and shares the details in her blog post.  She combined images from our Altered Fairy Creative Scraps with a beautiful image from our Childhood Vintage Image and Journal Notes Booklet to make this interactive card.

Did you forget it was winter for a minute or two?  Good!  Then my job is done here!

Be sure to come back on Monday when we will go live with our February Linky Party and DT Challenge.  We have a special guest designer this month, some beautiful free downloads to share with you and a wonderful prize package that you will definitely want to add to your crafty stash!  Enjoy your weekend, and you might just want to break out some of the Crafty Secrets goodies I've featured here today and get busy making some Valentines....just in case there's a Valentine theme for the Linky Party.  Just sayin'!

Until then, on behalf of Sandy Redburn, I wish you joy and creativity!

Cheerio,

kathy

Welcoming a New Design Team Member

Hello, Friends!

I'm just popping in very quickly today with an exciting announcement!  For some time now, I've been searching for another talented designer to add to our team. We needed someone who was comfortable with digital crafting, someone who could do all types of projects, and someone who loved the vintage vibe of Crafty Secrets.   Sandy and I both agreed that the very talented Ginny Nemchak  of Polly's Paper would be the perfect fit for all those categories.  So today, it is my pleasure to welcome Ginny to the team, and to introduce you to her amazing talent. So here's Ginny, in her own words:

I'm Ginny Nemchak and I live in a sweet little town out in the country with my husband of 21 years and 2 almost grown boys.  I am convinced that there is no better living than out on a dirt road.  It's a very blessed life I have.

I have been crafting my whole life in some form...but my creative outlet is now focused on paper.  I enjoy all types: layouts, mini albums, cards.  I have recently discovered a new love for altered art and digital collage.

I'm looking forward to sharing my projects and being inspired by the other super talented folks on the Crafty Secrets Design Team.

Ginny and I have been teammates on the Really Reasonable Ribbon and the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge design teams for over a year now, and I am so excited to have her join us here.  She also is on the design team at Graphic 45 and Canvas Corp Brands, so she is one busy lady!   Ginny's artwork is richly layered, delightfully vintage and wonderfully detailed.  You'll see what I mean when you take a look at this wonderful shadowbox she made for her debut.

Ginny painted the shadowbox and added bits and pieces from dozens of Crafty Secrets Goodies.  The fairy is from our Altered Fairies Creative Scraps and she's used elements from our Altered Office Stickers, Words from the Heart, and papers from Creating with Vintage Patterns.  Don't you love all the yummy layers?

Ginny  is a card maker extraordinaire, and if you love layers, you are going to love her cards!

I know you'll want to pay a visit to Ginny's blog, Polly's Paper to see more of her gorgeous work.

And, don't spill the beans, but the February Linky party is right around the corner, and the theme might just be Valentine's Day...so you might want to get a little head start!

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for giving Ginny a warm welcome to the team.

On behalf of Sandy Redburn, I wish you joy and creativity!

January Linky Party Winner and More DT Samples

Hello Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  We had a taste of springtime here in NC with 50 degree temps, bright sunshine and blue skies.  What a  treat after days of nothing but rain, grey skies and freezing temps.  I think we have one more gorgeous day on tap, and then back to winter, but I will enjoy every minute of this break!

We have a winner for the January Linky Party.  We only had 4 friends play along this month, and the winner was lucky #2: Ema Martinez.

Ema used the free  Bedtime Kids digital samples that we included in this Linky Party post to make this super adorable card.

Congratulations, Ema!  Sandy will be contacting you so that you can download this entire set of stamps!  I know you will really enjoy using them!  We're so glad you played along with us this month.

The design team has been really productive this month.  I think all the cold weather has everyone staying inside and getting their craft on.  Look at this fresh and fun card that design team member Shantaie made with our Retro Kitchen kit!

I love the way she printed the image several times, and then die cut it to create a paper tole effect.  And the ribbon and flower are just gorgeous.  Mmmm...strawberries in January!  Yes, please!

Melody created a lush and romantic Valentine using our Vintage Valentine Digital kit, our Radiant Papers and the elegant Heart to Heart Digital Art Stamp set. I think this card is shabby-licious, and I love all the texture from the sewing and fabric, don't you?

Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, you might want to take a look at some of our yummy Valentine goodies.  I dug into my Homemade Journal Notes Booklet and used this adorable angel baker in a card for a blog hop over at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Our Journal Notes Booklets are loaded with the most darling vintage images and are all on sale right now in the shop.

Sheila has created the prettiest cards using our Bedtime Kids set and colored them with such a beautiful water color effect.  These are artsy and beautiful...and I want to hold them in my hand.

Elizabeth created a realistic teddy bear to go with this cute image from Bedtime Kids.  I love the texture and the wonderful coloring on this sweet card.

I also had some fun with Bedtime Kids and created a scene with 3 of the stamps from that set, popping some up on dimensional foam and adding texture with a faux yarn "rug."

This huge set is really versatile and you can make everything from home decor to get well cards with it! Michele used it to  make this sweet card in the round.  I love the color palette she selected!

I have exciting news to share with you soon, so stay tuned!  I'd love to hear what you've been working on, and hope you'll let me know in the comment section below.

On behalf of Sandy Redburn, I wish you joy and creativity!

Vintage Valentine Kit and DT Samples

Hello, Friends!

It's Kathy here with some great ideas for Valentine's Day along with more lovely samples from the design team.  Before we know it, Valentine's Day will be upon us, so it's time to break out those pretty papers, stamps and crafting goodies!  Our Digital Vintage Valentine Kit is filled to the brim with valentine inspiration.  You'll find a mix of styles from retro to Victorian in the 9 papers, printable Valentine sheets, tickets, invitations, mini envelopes, A4 envelopes, cupcake wrappers and decorative hearts.  It also contains 3 frames, digital stamps that can be layered onto the papers and card fronts.  Use it to make banners, home decor, party invites, oh...and Valentines, too!

Here's a look at the kit, and I think you'll agree, it's super cute and just loaded with inspiration!

The papers in this digital kit are simply beautiful!

There are envelopes, tickets, tags, and beautiful bits of ephemera.

Our DT Member Diane Hover created these darling vellum treat pouches and will tell you all about them on her BLOG.

And look at this fun pop up card DT member Elizabeth Lincoln made with our Retro Kitchen Kit!  I think this is such a fun idea for a Valentine "card," especially for someone who loves to cook.  Fill it with chocolates and you are good to go!

Guest Designer Vicki Chrisman used our Little Dogs Digital Stamps to create this sweet canine Valentine. I love the way the sweet puppy is carrying the Valentine in his mouth.

Melody has been having fun with our Bedtime Kids Jumbo Digital Stamp Set.  I am so in love with this gorgeous layout she created.  It needs to be framed and hung in a little girl's room!

The stitching and distressing add wonderful texture.  I also love the way she turned our cute little sheep stamp into a banner/title for the page.  And, she used the free digital paper we offered during this month's Linky party...and just changed the background color to match her layout.

Darlene  also used the free Linky Party digi paper to  make this vintage lovely, adding an image from our Little Dolls Booklet.  This card has such a great nostalgic feel to it, and the details Dar added make it really special.

Speaking of the Linky Party, I hope you will play along!  You have until Midnight, Sunday January 18th to join in the fun. You can use any Crafty Secrets products in your project, but in case you want to use our new Bedtime Kids, we included a free download of the paper and stamp image in the Linky Party post.  One lucky participant will win the entire Bedtime Kids Jumbo Digital download!  That's 55 stamps!  So go get your craft on and join in the fun!  Link your project up HERE.

I know lots of us are socked in with cold winter weather, so it's a great time to get out your crafty goodies and create something beautiful.  Stay warm, my friends, and go get your craft on!

On behalf of Sandy Redburn, I wish you joy and creativity,

Crafty Secrets January 2015 Linky Party and DT Challenge

Hello Friends!

Happy New Year!  It's time for the very first Crafty Secrets Linky Party of 2015!  I hope you are ready to party....and I hope you have on your new Christmas jammies because we're throwing a virtual pajama party this month!   The design team has been busy working up some great projects using the adorable new Bedtime Kids Jumbo Digital Stamp Set.  Bedtime Kids includes an amazing array of 55 PNG stamps with a mix of adorable pajama children, accessories and sentiments that range from warm and sincere to cute and humorous.

When I was a kid, we always got new pajamas for Christmas, and we got to open them on Christmas Eve.  Does that sound familiar to anyone?  I still love to give PJ's as Christmas presents and I know many of you do, too.  So this set will be perfect for scrapbooking those new Christmas jammies, making invitations to pajama parties, cute signs for home decor and even for new baby, birthday or get well cards.  Take a peeky at these adorable images:

http://craftyvintagegirl.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/e/bedtime-kids-part-1-of-2-w-sizes.jpg

We've made a couple of changes in the Linky Party format this year, and I think you are really going to like them.  Each month, the Linky Party will have a specific theme that the design team will follow as part of the challenge.  We'll still feature a helpful tutorial on each of our blogs.  But instead of issuing a gift certificate to the participants and the winner, we will include a digital stamp, printable or papers that you can download for free so that you can play along with the monthly theme. One randomly chosen winner will receive an entire digital stamp set, digital papers or digital kit each month.  Isn't that fun?

Here's the brand new digital paper that Sandy just designed.  To download, just  right click and save to your computer.

And we also wanted to include one of the new Bedtime Kids digital stamps for you to use:

We also have a special Guest Designer this month!  Our former DT Leader and forever friend Vicki Chrisman from "This Art that Makes Me Happy" is joining us, and has prepared these adorable signs using two of the sentiments from the set.  See what I mean about these sentiments being perfect for home decor?

Sandy is on vacation right now, but before she left, she made this darling lamp for her niece's birthday. I think this is such a great way to use the sweet images and paper from this set.  Also, Sandy took the time to "colorize" some of the stamps and these will be included in the set along with the moons and stars paper..
Gloria is on vacation this month, but she'll be back soon!

I spent some time cleaning out the Closet of Shame over the holidays, and I found several of these clipboards.  I decided to alter one of them and turn it into a wall hanging/calendar for my studio, to help me to remember to relax and stay calm when facing project deadlines. I have a complete tutorial on my BLOG.

Darlene Pavlick  has a great tutorial showing you how to make this adorable little flip book on her blog. I can see this becoming a real favorite bedtime "look book."

Diane Hover has created these sweet paper hoops, and will show you how to make them on her blog. I think these would be so sweet hanging in a baby girl's bedroom, don't you?

Elizabeth Lincoln has had nothing but computer woes!  First her computer crashed and she lost all her digital files, and then her printer died right before the Linky Party.  Can you believe it?  But Liz is not a quitter!  She pulled herself together and created this amazing mobile using the Bedtime Kids.  I'm just in love with it!

Melody focused in on the adorable Tooth Fairy images that are part of this set, and created a dreamy little Tooth Fairy Box! I love all the layers and sparkle...and I think the Tooth Fairy will, too!

Michele Kovack  created a precious "in the round" card that is absolutely gorgeous.  Michele always adds on the prettiest details in her projects, and this card is no exception!

Shantaie always brings a fresh perspective to vintage, and I just love the delicate coloring and design of her sweet card.

Sheila has combined watercoloring techniques with a digital tutorial on how to use clipping masks with the stars and moon image from the set.  Look how pretty this wall hanging is:

And we've barely scratched the surface of the wonderful images in this amazing jumbo digital download!

Now, go visit each of the design team blogs  and be sure to leave them some love. Then, link up your own Crafty Secrets project Crafty Secrets goodies you have in your stashon the BLOG and you could win the entire Bedtime Kids Stamp Set! We’ve loaded a free image from the set into this month’s Linky Party post as our way of thanking you for playing along. You can download the image and use it in your Linky Party project, or use one of the FREE PRINTABLES found on the Crafty Secrets blog page. The rules are simple: Just create a NEW project featuring any Crafty Secrets products, and link it up on the Crafty Secrets blog before midnight Pacific Time on Sunday, January 18th.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about this adorable stamp set.  What images do you like best?  What do you see yourself creating with these sweet images and fun sentiments?  Please let us know in the comment section below.

We'll be popping by your blogs to take a peek at your handiwork...and why not invite a friend to play along?  The more, the merrier, I always say!

Stay warm and cozy...and don't forget to wear your cute pajamas...because you never know who you'll run into in your dreams!

Wishing you joy and creativity,
Kathy Clement/DT Leader
