Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart: October 2015 Linky Challenge and Blog Hop

Hello, Friends!

It's the first Monday in October and time for a new Linky Challenge and Blog Hop.  Fall is in full swing, Halloween is coming up fast, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  With that in mind, the theme for this month's challenge and Blog Hop is "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart."  We challenged the design team to create a hostess gift, card, wall hanging, mixed media project, altered art or mini album with a Thanksgiving/Thankfulness theme.   I've had a sneak peek of all the different projects, and I can tell you, there's some fabulous inspiration coming your way in today's post.

But before we get started with the hop, we have to announce the winner of our Halloween giveaway.  We had asked you to share your favorite Halloween traditions with us, and you all had so many great ideas to share.  It was wonderful to hear from you all.

The winner of the TRADITIONAL prize package is Susan McMenamin who said,
"I would love to win your traditional prize package. It would fit right in with my favorite Halloween activity-surprising friends and coworkers with cards and treats!"

The winner of the DIGITAL prize package is LeAnne who said,
"We don't get any trick-or-treaters because we live in the country too, like Margie! So my favorite tradition is carving out jack-o-lanterns and putting them on our porch. Nobody sees them but us, but it's still fun! And I have lots of Halloween decorations that I like to arrange around the house, and that makes me happy! I love Halloween! And I love CS stuff, in fact, I already have that cute little stamp set, to have it digital so I could re=size it would be awesome!"

Congrats, LeAnne and Susan!  Please contact Sandy at craftysecrets@telus.net to claim your prize!

I wish we could have sent a prize package to everyone who commented.  But the good news is that all these Halloween Goodies are available in our online store and most of them are on sale!  And did you hear the news?  We now offer FREE SHIPPING on all domestic US orders over $35.00!

Now, let's get see what inspirational ideas our fabby design team has prepared for this month's blog hop.  You'll find a sneak peek of their project below along with a link to each designer's blog where you'll find a little tutorial, lots of pictures and loads of inspiration.

Kathy Clement, Design Team Leader, created a vintage album filled with her family's favorite pumpkin recipes. Visit her blog, Kathy by Design where she shares her method for assembling this keepsake album.

Ginny Nemchak created a fabulous fall wall hanging and will show you how to create the pretty wreath that decorates it.  Visit her blog, Polly's Paper Studio, for more pictures and instructions.

Teresa Horner altered a jar to write down each day the things she is thankful for.  What a great idea and a reminder to be thankful each and every day.  Visit Victorian Paper Queen for more photos and details.

Darlene Pavlick knows that we all need thank you cards, so she created a cute set of them with our Birds and Blooms Digital Paper Kit.  Visit Dar's Crafty Creations to see how she did it.

Sheila Rumney inspires us with a beautiful altered project and has a great PhotoShop tutorial that will teach you how to use the Color Picker Tool.  Learn all about it at Sheila Rumney Design and Photography

Shantaie Fowler got out her glitter, chalk paint and pretty embellies to make her altered project.  She'll teach you how to add color to chalk paint on her blog, Inking Pink

Diane Hover had this great idea to ask each of her grandchildren (and great-grandchildren!) "What is Thanksgiving?" and then record it in a keepsake journal.  She'll share the process (and hopefully some of their answers!) on her blog, Nellie's Nest.

Love Giveaway, Linky Winner, New Samples and Digital Stamp Sets

Hi Everyone,  *** I need to come back and add all the links later as my dad is in so much pain I need to take him to emergency.  UPDATE: Sadly, he passed away peacefully at the hospital tonight.

We have a Giveaway for Digital Love/Valentine Package which is also on special for $21.50 and you can save over $10.00. To enter to WIN all these items just leave a comment here and a random.org winner will be announced on Monday

Congratulations to our January Linky Party Winner , # 1 Jo Willis from the UK and a big thank you to everyone who entered all the fabulous samples and received a $6.00 coupon.

Did you get our Free Valentine Printable with '10 Things I Love About' last year? This is a cute layout Cindy van Koll created for my niece using the list with paper and images from our Valentine Kit. It's actually Arissa's 4th birthday today and I'm having a family pizza party here tonight for her.

With Christmas over, our Design Team ladies are getting in the mood for Valentines and Spring so you will be seeing a bunch of great new samples popping up and new specials like our new Free Digital Download Chandelier Fun you can add to your basket with any purchase and it comes with the sample Idea Sheet.

DT Leader Kathy Clement used our Digital Heart to Heart Stamps to create this pretty layered card

Kathy also made this cool embossed card for her challenge with Really Reasonable Ribbon using a Tattered Angels Jumbo 12" x 12" Stamp Set on special for $8.50!
I bought a skid of 600 of these stamp sets when they discontinued all the 'extra' products and it's a great set as the back sheet works as the stamp block to hold the stamps.  Just cut around each design.

Lovely birthday card Vicki made for her sister using our CD 2 Creating With Vintage Illustrations

Great Snow Girl card by Michele Kovack using Winter Wishes

Elizabeth Lincoln these pink  support cards for her friends who just got diagnosed with breast cancer using our Support the Girls Digital Set.  Sadly, it seems to be growing much more common. Thank goodness the cure rate has improved

I also adore this cute mouse card Elizabeth made for a sick child in a card group she belongs to.  The little girl loves animals and this should make her smile using digital stamp sets Cutie Cats (mouse) and Sweet Stuff  Digital set for the cupcake

UPDATE: I've come back and finished adding all the links and the 4 new Digital Stamp Sets.

This is our free Chandelier Fun Digital set  with any order until end of January, just add it to your cart You can also see samples with the links to  Sew Special Digital Set  ,  Sing For Joy , and Home Sweet Home

Sadly my dad did pass away tonight. My mom and dad have a suite downstairs (with us  for over 25 years) and he felt so sick I was going to take him to Emergency this afternoon and realized he was too weak for me to get him in the car by myself so I called an ambulance and while we were waiting it seemed like he had a stroke. They intubated him and he was on life support until this evening and my mom had them take the tube out he passed away peacefully within a few minutes. All our family was there with him when he passed but I came back here to stay with my niece and nephew (my mom baby sits them during day).

His health had really declined since Sept and he stopped driving but he did celebrate his 85th birthday with all his family and close friends here and his favorite foods – Kentucky Fried chicken and my mom’s trifle. It’s such a drag that it happened on my niece Arissa’s birthday as she turned 4 today and I had a family pizza party planned here for her. I still had everyone over after they came back from the hospital. Her Grandpa would have wanted that as he watched Arissa help Grandma bake the cake and cupcakes yesterday and knew how excited she was.

Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words, prayers and condolences to our family.

Please don't let this stop you from entering our Love Giveaway!

Happy Valentine's Day, Moxie Fab Stamp Giveaway and New Samples!

Hi Everyone, Happy Valentines Day!

I have the new winner listed below, plus a link to a great  BIG Clear Art Stamp Giveaway at Moxie Fab  by Cath for Cherish, Sing For Joy, Mini Frames, Price Tags and Lacey Patterns.  Just leave a comment there (not here) to be entered to win all 5 Clear Art Stamp Sets
Cindy van Koll, our graphic designer made the bouquet above and card below with our Heart to Heart Digital Art Stamp Set. She just shrunk the hearts down smaller.
Congratulations to #18, Sylvia from Little Treasures who was the 2nd random.org winner to win all our new printable items I showed all the themes.

DT member Darlene Pavlick was so sweet and sent me a digital card she colored using our Garden Girl Digital Art Stamp Set.  She said she used her new Spectrum Noir alcohol markers but she just got them recently so is still practicing.  I think it looks fabulous.
She says she didn't pre-treat her image but she heard that these papers work best with alcohol markers for blending: Neenah, GinaK Pure Luxury, and Cryogen White.

I planned to come back and add my test results using Copics with our Digital Stamps but all the Copic Markers are at Cindy's house, so Vicki tested this Valentime image she printed last week with no problems. She's waiting for an order of ink so can't test a 'freshly printed image' but I would use a heat tool or hair dryer if you want color right awayEach printer and ink is different but I also own a Canon Pixma ix6520 and use 'no name ink' from www.inkfarm.com  without any problems using water colors on my Valentine Mini Album.

Here are some super cute new treat samples that DT leader Vicki Chrisman made with our new Adorable Easter Egg Printables.  You can see samples with the Victorian Eggs on this post if you missed them

Look at this super pretty birdie card Joan Ervin created using our Bird Lover Stamp Set. She also used some other stamps and you can get her supply list through the link. I adore the fabric rose and twine she added.  This is one of the stamp sets in the Moxie Fab Giveaway.

We are hooked on Downton Abbey, the UK TV series, that is Scott, myself and my mom who I call upstairs to watch with us. It's starts out in 1912 and the mansion decor and characters are fascinating! Past DT member Julie Campbell told me about it but I had already missed a season and wanted to start from the beginning. Then our daughters gave it to me for my birthday in Jan. We are on season 3 now and I don't want it to end!

If you still need a Valentine card, here's our Free 2013 Printable and links to past ones. Plus, a link to yummy Valentine recipes on skinnytaste.com  Owner, Ginny, has the best recipes and weight watcher friendly.  I want the chocolate parfait!

Don't forget to enter the Big Stamp Set Giveaway over at Moxie Fab!

 Wishing you joy and creativity

See 12 New Items Giveaways and Victorian Eggs and Arrow Samples!

Hello to our New and Old Friends,

We have 13 new items with 3 sets of double page Easter Eggs for $2.95 each and 10 single page themes of printable items for $1.95 each added to our online store at www.craftyvintagegirl.com so I thought we should do 2 Giveaways for all of them!  Just leave a comment and tell me what your favorites are. I will announce a random.org winner this Monday afternoon and another winner on Wed 13/13

Also, did you see the wonderful samples people have added to our Feb. Linky Party? There is still time, you have until just after midnight Sunday, so technically 12:05 AM Feb 11/13 to add a sample you have created with any Crafty Secrets product to be entered to win. (if it draws one of our DT members ladies I will do a re-draw).
Here is style 1 in our new  Victorian 2 Page Printable Eggs for $2.95

I love is how versatile the eggs are as you can re-size the page, crop and print on several mediums. DT Leader Vicki Chrisman was a sweetie and whipped up the beautiful samples, below plus - you can see the cute arrows she made with our Heart to Heart Stamps!

I think Cindy van Koll, our graphic designer did an amazing job combining all the image layers on the eggs.  I love the idea of printing the pages double sided so you can create double sided tags and signs for Spring plants, Easter baskets and gift tags

Here Vicki used the eggs on the first page to create a Spring Garland. She said she got a all of her paper doilies at her local Dollar Tree Store

Here are 3 tags she made using plain card stock and Glimmer Mist with embellishments she had on hand.  You could use new or old lace and ribbon with stamps,  punches, glitter, buttons, etc. Love the moss nest idea on the middle tag.

Here is the second set called Pretty Vintage Eggs 2 page Printables

Here is the 3rd style which we didn't plan but we had all these adorable images and I know my niece and nephew would love these  Adorable Vintage Egg Printables for $2.95
Okay, now on to the other printable sheets we've added.  If you are not familiarr with our Homespun Cotton Scraps they are a  series of themes printed on Cotton Twill and everyone loved the texture of the fabric and that you could fray the edges.  Many of the Cotton Scraps have sold out so we have started adding them to our Digital $1.95 Printables.
Scroll down to the end to read my TIP for PRINTING ON FABRIC Using FREEZER PAPER

Our Spring Printable is our FREE Printable Gift this month when you place an order in our Crafty Vintage Girl Store just add the free marked Spring Printable to your shopping cart.
Click on the link above to see some beautiful samples!

Here is our Fairy $1.95 Printable Download Sheet   You can click on the product links to see beautiful samples by our Design Team over the years when they used the 'fabric Cotton Scraps'.

Here is our Flowers $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
Here is the Baby Girl $1.95 Printable Download Sheet

Here is the Baby Boy $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
Here is the Wedding $1.95 Printable Download Sheet

Here is our Feathered Friends $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
Here is the Summer $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
The Halloween $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
Finally, our Winter $1.95 Printable Download Sheet
Our Cooking Printable sheet was added previously and other will be added soon.

So be sure to leave a comment and tell us what your favorite sheets are?

Also here's a TIP for Printing the images on FABRIC using Freezer Paper.  Freezer paper can be bought at several grocery stores and Amazon also sells it in sheets precut.  Simply iron the waxy side to a piece of plain cotton fabric and cut it to size 8.5 x 11".  The freezer paper will make your fabric stiff enough to feed through your printer and you just peel the fabric away and you can stitch up gift bags, tags, pillows and all sort of goodies!
Here's a link to a skirt I made using fabric printed with Freezer Paper for a  Dress Form I decoupaged

I will be posting more samples next week but GET BRAVE and enter our Linky Party! Every person entering will receive Both the Victorian Style Easter Prinbtable Eggs!

PS -  a few people who entered last time haven't gotten back and I'm worried my email went in their junk mail. Just call our toll free # 1-888 597-8898

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!
 Wishing you joy and creativity
